I received my art degree from the Colorado Art Institute in 1978. Since then, I have been creating art in many forms; oil, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, mixed media, and fiber art. I began quilting 30 years ago and although I loved to create beautiful quilts, my love of art moved me into Fiber Arts, leading me to launch DJ’s Fiber Arts (DJ is short for my first name, Debbie Jo). I am an award-winning fiber and multi-media artist, creating fiber art, painting my own fabric,embellishing using different fibers and media such as silk, wool, paints, beads and more.
Creating fiber art is a deeply personal journey for me, allowing me to merge my love for tactile experiences with my passion for self-expression. My freeform method of creation serves as a vessel for my emotions, thoughts, and experiences, woven together into a unique tapestry of my inner world. I find solace and meditation, as I immerse myself in the creative process, unraveling the threads of my imagination to bring forth something entirely new and meaningful. When I begin a piece of work, I begin thinking outside the box, to see what’s possible, stretching my imagination. There are no rules, just art! Creating art with fiber and mixed media is not my craft, rather, it reflects my soul, a medium through which I communicate with the world, leaving traces of my essence in every intricate detail. Today, I am a full-time fiber artist who enjoys sharing my knowledge through the unique and exciting classes I offer throughoutthe country, introducing students to the amazing world of art. Cancellation Policy for Deb Deaton Classes:
CANCELLATIONS FOR 1 DAY CLASSES:
For classes listed as 1-day or less, cancellation must be made 14-days prior to the first day of the class for a refund. Cancellations less than 14 days before the first day of class forfeit all registration monies paid. On occasion, classes will cancel due to lack of registration. If the class is cancelled due to inadequate enrollment, you will be refunded. To minimize the risk that you might purchase your fabrics and supplies, only to find out that the class had to be cancelled, we recommend that you call the teacher, or the quilt shop, to confirm if that class has met its minimum enrollment and will go on as scheduled.
CANCELLATIONS FOR 2-5 DAY CLASSES:
For classes listed as 2-5 days, cancellation must be made 45-days prior to the first day of the class for a refund. Cancellation less than 45 days before the first day of class forfeits all registration monies paid. On occasion, classes will cancel due to lack of registration. If the class is cancelled due to inadequate enrollment, you will be refunded. To minimize the risk that you might purchase your fabrics and supplies, only to find out that the class had to be cancelled, we recommend that you call the teacher, or the quilt shop, to confirm if that class has met its minimum enrollment and will go on as scheduled.
